"You Can't Fence Me In"

Even though I signed my name to this piece, I feel it needs a little more work.
It is a 24" x 24" collaged piece made using handmade, handpainted papers, and other papers.
The original idea and photos came from several pictures I took of my friend's rooster. Thanks Maryann.

Art Exhibit and Classes

We had a good showing at the "Out-of-Towners" exhibit. I sold a few pieces and was asked to teach some classes. I look forward to teaching. I love to share what I have learned with others. I need to get busy and work up some samples for the classes. I will be teaching a mixed media class, a journal class, where we make the journal from cover to cover, and a pastel and acrylic class. That will keep me busy for a while.

Our Ellie

Lemons in Blue Bowl

Just about finished with this painting/collage piece. It is 11x14 on panel board with finished sides so you don't need to frame.

I used handmade paper from Judith Segall on the lemons...makes them look real.

We still have lots of snow on the ground but it is really pretty with the sun shining. Still very cold. Ken said it was 4ยบ this morning here. Now that's cold. Climbing into the 50's this next week. It will feel like a heat wave!

Snow is so pretty...light and fluffy.

What a beautiful snowfall this morning. It's only 7:30! Looks like more than 1-2" before the day is over.

Snow Falling

It is so pretty outside right now...cold but the snow is soft and fluffy. Ellie love the snow and you will find her outside rumping through it and eating it. Then she comes inside and crashes on the couch for a long nap.

The end of December and this month have been hectic. My mother has been quite ill and has taken up much of my time taking care of her. Things are improving and I am hoping she will get back on her feet and feel more like doing some things instead of sleeping so much.

I need to get busy painting more pieces for a show in May at the Mayfield Graves County Art Guild. My friend Melanie will be sharing the space with me. She does sculptured figures.

Here is a piece I finally finished. I used pieces of actual birch bark from our tree. It is 24x30 on canvas.

Stay warm.

Cherie Stannard's Blog

On September 30, 2010, Cherie Ann Stannard became entrapped in her Jeep after it rolled and landed on its roof following a single-vehicle crash. There was another car involved that did not stop. A book has been published to help raise money for Cherie's care and the home improvements needed to care for her. Cherie has no health insurance. Cherie's sister and brother have quit their jobs and are staying at family housing at the Center in order to participate in the rehabilitation and receive training to care for her. For more information and to purchase a book visit Cherie's blog at: http://www.cheriestannard.com.

I had the privilege of donating a painting called Tenacious, that is in the book. All profits from the sale of the book will go for Cherie's care.
