My art student Whitney painted this awesome painting. She loves color and is doing really well. The painting was inspired by an artist I am unable to find.

Just playing around
Last couple of days I have spent making a few greeting cards and collaged my cigar box that was part of my winnings from EphemeraPaducah. I enjoy days were I can just take my time and fiddle around with my art supplies.

Finally Finished...
this little gem. I made this in a class with Rose Hughes, a wonderful quilt artist. We had a great time in the class at EphemeraPaducah. My DIL, Kelly and my 2 grandgirls, Lauren and Bethany, were also in the class.

Dear Brave Girl,
One step forward, one step forward, one step forward. Two steps forward and one step back. Three steps forward, three steps back. Five steps forward, two steps back. No, this is not a math lesson. This is life, lovely girl!!!
Please don't freak out or beat yourself up when you have setbacks. You are not a failure. You did not make bad plans and your steps backward do not determine your worth as a human being.
Sometimes we think we have things figured out, or that we have overcome something, and then it returns to our lives in a different way, leaving us to feel like we have failed in some way. This is actually a beautiful new chance to learn and grow, and it shows up right when we are ready to take it on, even if it seems otherwise.
Remember that life is a process . . . all of it. There are lots of finish lines, not just one. We get to start new climbs, new races, every day. Some days we are moving forward effortlessly, some days we are learning to work through life in other ways. It's all good and it's all necessary and you are doing a tremendous job.
Reach for the gifts found in the setbacks and decide that tomorrow is a brand new day.
You are so very loved.
xoxo

Here is a fun piece I did using a Stencil Girl stencil. I love their stencils. They have such great ones. I did the moon myself copying the design idea from a Rubbermoon stamp that has this sweet little moon with lines around it and stars. Another favorite...Rubbermoon stamps. They have some really wonderful and different stamps. The glare is from the mica colors I used.
Sold Christmas 2013
The next is a painting I did using a stencil from Craftworks. It is called Aspen Trees. I also use Dylusion Ink Sprays on both paintings. I call the painting, Treelines.Monday, October 14, 2013
Prayer Flags from One January Day
Found this neat site this morning and thought I would share it with you. I love the idea of prayer flags and plan on making some to hang on my fence. Kelley Walker does a great job explaining the history of the flags and has some great tutorials to show you how to make them. Her blog is called One January Day. You can click under my "favorites" to get to her site.

Fiona and Whitney
I have forgotten to get some pictures of Fiona and Whitney's paintings. They are doing great and having fun. Fiona did a wonderful scotty dog for her grandmother and also a great abstract. I will see if I can get Whitney to get some pictures and send them to me so I can post them.

Gongbi painting
I am taking a class in Chinese painting and calligraphy at the Paducah School of Art. This is one of the paintings i am working on. Chinese painting is very different than what I am use to doing. We draw our picture and then add the values and then color.

This has been a very difficult year for me. My sweet mother passed away on July 4, of this year after been ill for some time. I hope to get back to painting and posting soon.
Last night was an awesome evening at an auction for our local Easter Seals Art Department. Work was donated from various artist and some collaborated with East Seals clients. Not sure how much they raised, but the pieces went for really high dollar amounts!
Black and White and Red All Over by Easter Seal Artist, DJ and myself. It went for $600!
WooHoo DJ.
