What a week! June 27, 2009

Here is the photo of my finished Bird of Paradise. I did manage to get it finished. Two more left. They will be smaller, 9x12's. I also finished a commission piece and will be getting ready to do another soon.

It has been a very busy week...trying to get things taken care of around here because I had a 3 day Watercolor Workshop w/Joseph Fettingis here in Paducah. Joe is a great teacher. This is the second year I have taken his class. I am no watercolor artist by any means but I believe that you can always learn from other artist no matter what medium they work in. Check out Joe's site at http://www.jfettingis.com/. His work is amazing.

Off to rest...

We Need Sponsors...

Our city has recently passed an ordinance allowing area artist to produce, display and sell their work in the downtown area on the street around our gazebo area. Every Saturday night we are downtown painting or making pottery items. With the ordinace we will be able to be on the streets any day of the week.

We are in need of sponsors for the two style of carts. Each sponsor will have an engrave plaque placed on the cart with their name and/or business. The cost of the carts are $1500 for the painting, drawing carts and $2500 for pottery/ceramics carts. Carts can be sponosored by one or more individuals or businesses.

Paducah is a growing art community and we are exciting about this new ordinance being passed. If you are interested or know of some one who would be please contact us at:

The picture is an idea of what the carts are to look like.

Three Extra Ordinary Women

Today my dear hubby said I needed to post some of my other work. He is my best admirer and critic!

Last year I worked on three portrait paintings from the Heifer International Charitable Organization's magazine, "World Ark". I was fortunate to get the permission of the photographer, Geoff Bugbee, to copy and paint these lovely ladies. Geoff is a humanitarian photojournalist specializing in global health issues. Geoff's work is awesome. Please check out his site at http://www.geoffbugbee.com/.
My goal is to get a series of several ladies done and have a show to help support Heifer's humanitarian causes. Heifer's site is http://www.heifer.org/.
In another post I will give you a little history of these wonderful women.

Photo from around downtown and home.

These windows remind of little bird houses. They are part of some historical building fronts downtown.

Sign from local downtown bakery...best bread and bagels around.

This is part of the old movie theatre downtown. I will add more pictures later so you can see more of it. It is sad to see it closed and left to deteriorate.

Fence post from my yard.

All these pictures were part of my photography class portfolio last semester.
