This book was made to raise funds for a family in need. On September 30, Cherie Ann Stannard rolled her Jeep, suffering a C-4 complete spinal cord injury and paralysis. Her whole life changed in an instant.
Author Elizabeth St. Hilaire Nelson..."This book has been a group effort made possible from creativity around the country, each person having the desire to reach out and lend a hand to a stranger in need. The artists featured came together to help in raising funds for Cherie’s family. Her brother and sister have quit their jobs to receive specialized training on how to care for their now paralyzed sister. Thank you to every artist for their kindness and willingness to help in this project. Thank you to the purchasers of this book for your donation. 100% of the profits will be donated to Cherie’s family for living expenses, including modifying the home to accommodate a wheelchair and other adaptive devices. Random acts of kindness bring us together, keeping us strong in our faith of human nature."

New Pieces
The colors are better in the actual paintings. I am just not good at capturing paintings with lots of shiny textures. I will have to find some one to help me photograph these better. The colors are really more intense and much prettier.
11x14 framed
reds, golds, pinks
10x10 gallery wrapped canvas
lots of hot pink and orange
12x12 gallery wrapped canvas

More new pieces
I have been working on several new pieces including some note cards. I can't believe how fast the days are flying by. I can't seem to get all things I'd like to do started but I am working on it. There are not enough hours in my days!
The green piece is an 8x8 on wrapped canvas and the orange is on a 16x20 wrapped canvas. I am working on several pieces for a show in May. I would like to have several new pieces done by then. I am still working on some collage pieces too.

Update on our sweet Ellie Mae. She is nearly 11 1/2 months old and has just finished her beginner's agility's class. She has no fear! While chatting with our kennel club members she took off and walked or rather ran up one side of a 5 ft high ramp and ran across the plank to the other side and back down. Everyone just stood there with their mouths hanging open while mommy (me) went flying over to the ramp as Ellie decided to try it again! Then before we could get her she flew through the tunnels that were set up. She loves climbing and does everything at break neck speed. Her least favorite is the weave poles where she has to weave between 6 poles that are set up 2 ft apart. What a dog. She is getting so much better with her everyday obedience training and I am able to walk her off leash and recall her if I need her to return to my side quickly. Her is a pic...not a real recent one but you can see how she has grown to 67#.

A Gift From A Dear Friend
This is a portrait of my sweet Ellie Mae painted by my folk artist friend Gay Speirbhain. She does the cutest doggy portraits in her own wonderful style. Thank you Gay. I will cherish it forever. It so looks like my Ellie.
Be sure and check out Gay's site at www.theartofgayspeirbhain.blogspot.com

Martin Luther King

My friend, Gay Speirbhain, and I collaborated on this piece of MLK for The Hotel Metropolitan here in Paducah KY. Gay is a folk artist and I think we did a great piece. This is our gift to the hotel. Please check out their site at http://www.thehotelmetropolitan.org/. It was the only hotel for blacks and many famous people stayed there like Billie Holiday, Louie Armstrong, Cab Calloway and Ella Fitzgerald just to name a few.

Can't believe
it's been a whole month since I last posted. I really need to get busy with painting. I have fallen behind. I have had a lot going on with starting a new art guild, mother in the hospital for 3 weeks, just to mention a couple of things. I have put together some boxed note cards with my children's portraits and some with my Bird of Paradises. They turned out very nice and I plan on putting them in a few places around town to sell. I am also looking ahead to some commission work soon.
Hopefully I will be posting some work soon. Please check back.

"Up I Go" wins 2nd place...

in the pastel category at the Easter Seals Art Celebration! I was so excited to see that my painting had won. 9 x 12 pastel on suede board. Overall framed 11 x 14.
We had 3 different receptions going on downtown last night. All three were wonderful. Lots of folks out enjoying the lovely evening. I helped at the Yeiser Art Center's reception most of the evening and it was packed. Some of my sweet friends made it out to support me and I really appreciated it very much. Thank you.
